Project Description
Dakota Prairie Refining was the first greenfield fuels refinery to be built in the United States since the late 1970s. Located in western North Dakota, the refinery was designed to process 20,000 barrels per day (bpd) of Bakken crude oil. Startup operations began in May 2015.
ESI’s division Wagner Industrial Electric was initially contracted to provide site grounding and site lighting services. The scope of work was increased to include power and control systems in the inside battery limits area as well as the outside battery limits area. Wagner Industrial added savings to the project by providing value engineering to lower the cost of installation and accelerate electrical installation.
