Safety Culture
Safety is part of everything we do; it’s who we are. Every task we take on, every project we build, is centered on doing it safely. Our people are the core of our company and we are devoted to sending them home safely every day.
ESI is a Voluntary Protection Program Star Mobile Workforce contractor, an achievement earned through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in recognition of employers and employees who have achieved exemplary occupational safety and health. Our employees are devoted to meeting VPP’s high standards of safety, which is critical to upholding this designation.
Human Performance Improvement
Human Performance Improvement, or HPI, has changed the way we work. HPI helps us continually learn and improve our safety practices. It takes into consideration organizational factors, jobsite conditions, task demands and the worker. When an event occurs, we want to understand what influenced the worker’s decision and why it made sense to them at that moment. We identify areas in need of improvement and we share lessons learned.
Our employees are trained to have a questioning attitude in planning and prep stages as well as at the activity level to avoid assumptions. Our supervisors are trained to encourage and recognize workers who perform well. Providing positive and immediate reinforcement encourages safe behaviors.
Recognizing Excellence
ESI’s Mission Possible Award is a peer-nominated award recognizing safety, teamwork and overall excellence. This award is an important part of our company culture, highlighting contributions in the field that may otherwise go unnoticed.
Community and Camaraderie
We believe in helping our neighbors to make our communities better places to live and work. ESI and its employees support numerous organizations in and around Ohio. Our employees serve meals at homeless shelters, donate their time and professional skills for community events and raise money for various nonprofit organizations, including Dayton Children’s Hospital.
Educational Outreach
We’re passionate about educating students on career opportunities in the trades. We attend events throughout the tri-state area with the Cincinnati Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee. We partner with the Green County Career Center and contribute to the Greater Cincinnati Construction Foundation, which supports construction programs and educational opportunities for young people. We also sponsor and participate in Rosie’s Girls, a hands-on summer camp for girls where they use tools and equipment and explore a wide range of traditional and nontraditional careers.
